• Was left in a bit of a bind a few years ago after dealing with a rogue builder. I had a difficult but small job regarding a connection between my garage and my new house extension. Was a tricky fix and because it was a small annoying job not many people were interested in doing it. John not only knew how to do it (I had done my own research) but he was able to do it well and make it look really tidy. His help and skill was greatly appreciated. So much so I got him to landscape my garden, and he did an amazing job!

• We bought our home 34 years ago; it's a unique design. We don't just own it, we are custodians of the 94-year old building. We had a problem with the original front doorstep. We contacted an architectural builder - they didn't want to know. We contacted the largest builders in town - no response. I searched the internet, and contacted John Owen of Nottingham Building Company: I liked his style. He agreed to give me a quotation, and turned up when he said he would. The quote was fair, even though the job was complicated, and would involve a specialist supplier. I accepted his quote, and John placed the order with the supplier. There were complications along the way, none of them John's fault, but to his credit, he always kept me informed of the progress, and sometimes the lack of it. The work has now been carried out. John and his colleague have done a superb job; their attention to detail and quality is very impressive.
